How Sound Waves Travel

- Sound waves travel through the air in waves.
- When an object vibrates, it moves the air molecules around it. This causes them to bump into each other.
- Sound waves carry energy through a medium without carrying the molecules of a medium along. Each particle of the medium vibrates as the disturbance passes. When the disturbance reaches your ears, you hear the sound.
